Popular streaming service, Neon, has announced it is raising its monthly and annual subscription prices from April 1. The standard monthly price will be increasing from $19.99 to $23.99, while the annual subscription will go up from $199.99 to $223.99.
Meanwhile, the basic plan will remain at $12.99 per month.
A spokesperson from Sky has said that the price increases are designed to make sure Neon can keep “delivering a premium streaming experience and investing in a world-class entertainment line-up.”
Neon is the home of popular shows, including new seasons of The White Lotus, The Handmaid’s Tale and And Just Like That.
This price increase comes in the wake of last year’s price rise. In January 2024, Sky increased Neon’s standard plan from $17.99 to $19.99 per month.
Neon is not the only streaming platform to raise their prices this year. Disney Plus recently sent an email to their subscribers, letting them know of the upcoming price increase from April 7. A standard subscription to the platform will go up to $16.99 per month. Apple TV and Netflix are projected to be right behind their competitors in announcing price increases, all coming ahead of inflation forecasted to hit New Zealand shores in 2025.
